Architect-Designed Oak & Glass Sideboard
Architect-Designed Oak & Glass Sideboard
A wonderfully idiosyncratic piece of late-20th-century architectural furniture, this sideboard blends precision and playfulness in equal measure. Constructed in solid oak with a floating glass shelf, it feels part-Frank Lloyd Wright, part-Japanese teahouse, and part- modernist workshop — a fusion of clean horizontals, exposed joinery and quietly expressive detailing.
The silhouette is defined by wide, cantilevered platforms and a beautifully slatted cabinet doors, whose vertical rhythm gives the piece a sculptural quality. A single glass shelf sits between two uprights, seemingly suspended in space — a thoughtful moment of lightness against the warmth and grain of the timber.
Inside the cabinet, further glass shelving echoes the external structure, while the notched top profile and contrasting timber plugs reveal the maker’s architectural sensibility. It’s a rare handmade object where structure is the ornament: honest materials, clever spatial thinking and a gentle, modernist serenity.
Ideal as a media console, hallway piece, sideboard or display plinth for objects — it offers storage, display and strong visual presence without overwhelming a room.
