Naive Frog Sculpture — Welded Sheet Steel
Naive Frog Sculpture — Welded Sheet Steel
A wonky amphibian with workshop soul.
A charmingly primitive frog made from hand-cut sheet steel—bent, patched and spot-welded into a squat, toad-like body on four spindly legs. The maker has punched tiny nose holes and slit a grin across the face; raised eyelids and splayed “toes” are forged from scrap and stitched on with molten beads. The surface is rich with workshop patina—russet oxidation, blackened heat‐marks and old flux—giving the frog a time-worn, sculptural presence. Naive, expressive and oddly affectionate; it reads as much folk art as it does brutalist object.
