A soulful survivor from 19th century southern Spain, this earthenware bowl bears all the warmth and imperfection of traditional Andalusian pottery. The interior is loosely painted with deep cobalt blue slip in a rhythmic, almost flamenco-like zigzag—part wave, part mountain, part echo—dripping expressively into the cream glaze below.

Thrown by hand and unevenly fired, its form is tactile and subtly off-centre, with traces of the potter’s wheel still visible on the underside. There’s a grounded honesty to its irregular glaze and weathered surface—beautifully imperfect and full of quiet history.

A piece that speaks not only of function but of folk memory, regional tradition, and the artistry of the everyday.

Dimensions:
Diameter: 26 cm
Height: 10.5 cm

Condition:
Timeworn but stable. Old chips and glaze losses to the rim, surface marks and firing irregularities consistent with age and use. A decorative and highly evocative piece.
