Early 20th-Century French Iron Strap Chair
Early 20th-Century French Iron Strap Chair
A lyrical piece of French metalwork, forged from narrow iron straps into a double-drum, cage-like silhouette. The gently raked back and oval seat are latticed and welded, giving the chair a light, architectural presence—somewhere between vineyard cooperage and atelier sculpture. The dark, time–softened patina brings warmth and depth; edges show the faint hammer marks and brazed joints you only get with workshop work of the period.
Surprisingly comfortable as-is and excellent with a simple round cushion, it works indoors or on a covered terrace, where its graphic outline can play against stone and timber.
