A quietly eccentric piece that sits somewhere between utility and small theatre. At first glance, a simple rectangular mirror in a galvanised steel frame. Look again and it begins to loosen up a little.
The surface of the metal carries that familiar mottled bloom of galvanisation — soft greys, silvers, a slightly industrial freckling that catches the light without ever quite shining. It has a steadiness to it. Not cold, just matter-of-fact.
Mounted to either side, a pair of slender conical glass vases introduce a different note entirely. Light, almost provisional, they hover just off the surface on simple metal brackets. The contrast is what makes it: something solid and workmanlike paired with something delicate and fleeting.
Flowers, cuttings, or nothing at all — it works either way. The mirror does its job, but it’s the suggestion of use around it that gives the piece its character.
There’s a slightly improvised feel to the construction, in a way that feels intentional rather than accidental. Not quite polished, not quite raw. It sits comfortably in that middle ground.
