Hand-Forged Wrought Iron Chair
Hand-Forged Wrought Iron Chair
A beautiful piece of artisan metalwork, this hand-forged wrought iron chair reads as much like a sculpture as it does seating. Its tall, ribbon-like backrest is shaped from a single sheet of iron, flaring and tapering with an almost figure-like elegance. Two looping uprights curl into expressive tendrils, each twisting around itself in a gesture that feels at once decorative and structural.
The seat is formed from gently curved iron slats, giving the chair a surprising lightness to balance the material’s inherent gravity. Below, the legs are tied together by a network of twisted stretchers—an intricate choreography of knots and coils that recalls traditional blacksmithing as well as the more lyrical forms of Art Nouveau and 20th-century craft furniture.
The surface carries a rich, naturally mottled patina: warm brown, graphite and steel-grey tones layered through years of oxidation and hand-finishing. It’s a piece that holds its own as a functional object but speaks even more powerfully as a sculptural presence in a room.
