Large Honey-Toned Alabaster Grapes
Large Honey-Toned Alabaster Grapes
A generous bunch of alabaster grapes, with fruit of a size that suggests the vine had very few other commitments. Rounded stones gather around a dark, gnarled wooden stem, tapering into a loose cluster that rests naturally on a tabletop.
The colour moves through honey, ochre and amber, with occasional smoky brown notes. Cloudy veining and variations within the stone give each grape its own character, while the glossy surfaces catch the light in small, bright patches. Against them, the rough wooden stem provides a pleasing change of texture: deeply ridged, irregular and almost black in places.
At 39 cm long, this is a substantial decorative bunch, with enough presence to sit alone on a sideboard or low table. Equally good among books, pottery and other collected objects—a still life with no particular urgency to be consumed.
Condition
Surface wear, small nicks and marks to the grapes, with variations in colour and veining. The wooden stem has splits and an uneven, weathered surface. Please refer to the detail photographs.
