There’s something faintly ceremonial about this one. Not in a grand sense, but in the way it holds itself — upright, composed, as if it knows it’s doing a job properly.
The body is formed in chalkware, richly textured and almost stone-like in its finish. A band of circular, almost tree-ring motifs wraps around the belly — each one slightly irregular, pressed rather than perfected — giving the piece a quiet rhythm and a sense of hand in the making. It sits somewhere between studio pottery and decorative object, with just enough eccentricity to keep it interesting.
The surface has that softly weathered, mineral quality chalkware does so well. It doesn’t shout; it absorbs light, breaks it up, and gives it back gently. There’s a tactility to it that rewards a closer look — the sort of piece that feels better the longer you live with it.
