Stripped back and quietly architectural, this set of six dining chairs pares the form down to essentials. Made in Denmark from solid pine, the frames are stained and lacquered to a deep, inky tone that plays well with the new rust-coloured Kvadrat wool-felt seats. The square section legs, open back and right-angle geometry give them a gentle Japanese sensibility and a pleasing echo of Donald Judd’s minimal sculptural silhouettes.

Surprisingly comfortable—the proportioned seat height and softly padded cushions invite long meals—while the sturdy construction makes them everyday reliable.

Sold as set of six.

Details

  • Denmark, 1970s–80s

  • Stained & lacquered pine frames; Kvadrat wool-felt upholstery (re-upholstered)

  • Dimensions (each): H 77cm x W 44cm x D 43cm; seat height 48cm

Condition

  • Solid and sturdy with no wobbles; newly upholstered seats are pristine.

  • Expected cosmetic wear to the ebonised finish: light rubbing and small knocks to the hard edges, particularly at the tops of a few front uprights and the bottoms of some legs.

  • Minor stain loss in those areas reveals the pine beneath in places—subtle and even, reading as honest patina rather than damage.

  • Overall very good vintage condition; the surface wear sits well with the design and speaks to their previous life and ongoing story.
