Vintage abstract bowl
Vintage abstract bowl
A tactile, elemental studio pottery bowl with a sweeping abstract gesture in iron oxide glaze. The surface is richly speckled and earthy, as if coaxed straight from the kiln floor. A fluid black stroke arcs across the interior—spontaneous, calligraphic—suggesting a figure, or perhaps a fossilised dance. Mid-century or thereabouts in feel, though the anonymity of the maker leaves room for speculation.
It holds that quiet confidence of hand-thrown work: asymmetric, grounded, unapologetically raw. Ideal as a sculptural object, table centrepiece or simply left to catch the light on a shelf.
